Build­ing a bet­ter tomorrow

Friend­ship Senior Options is com­mit­ted to serv­ing the needs of old­er adults now and in the future by deliv­er­ing inno­v­a­tive ser­vices, res­i­dences and pro­grams. Many times, to accom­plish this mis­sion, we call upon the gen­eros­i­ty of our res­i­dents, their fam­i­lies, sur­round­ing com­mu­ni­ty busi­ness­es and local organizations.

The Friend­ship Senior Options Foun­da­tion was estab­lished to fos­ter an envi­ron­ment of giv­ing in order to enrich the lives of the seniors in the area. It is cen­tered in the spir­it of friend­ship and serves as the phil­an­thropic affil­i­ate of Friend­ship Senior Options and its com­mu­ni­ty, Friend­ship Vil­lage. The Foun­da­tion is built upon three pil­lars that dri­ve our mis­sion: Benev­o­lence, Edu­ca­tion & the Arts, and Cap­i­tal Improvements.

Benev­o­lence: Help­ing those in need

Our com­mu­ni­ty promis­es every res­i­dent a life­time plan for care – a place to live and access to the ser­vices they need for as long as they live with­in our com­mu­ni­ties. We qui­et­ly sup­port res­i­dents who have out­lived their resources. The Foun­da­tion also assists the asso­ciates who serve our res­i­dents that may be expe­ri­enc­ing extreme finan­cial hard­ships. Friend­ship Senior Options’ com­mit­ment to Benev­o­lence stems from our core val­ue of friend­ship and our ded­i­ca­tion to treat­ing oth­ers with dig­ni­ty, respect and kindness.

Edu­ca­tion & the Arts: Fos­ter­ing life­long learning

Just because we get old­er doesn’t mean we lose the curios­i­ty to learn new things. The Foun­da­tion funds a vari­ety of edu­ca­tion­al oppor­tu­ni­ties with­in our com­mu­ni­ties for both res­i­dents and asso­ciates. From musi­cal per­for­mances to con­tin­u­ing edu­ca­tion class­es, spir­i­tu­al pro­grams to train­ing ses­sions, the foun­da­tion encour­ages every­one to nev­er stop learn­ing. The Foun­da­tion also offers schol­ar­ships for asso­ciates and stu­dents in the com­mu­ni­ty through the Paul J. Schaffhausen Memo­r­i­al Schol­ar­ship pro­gram. Mr. Schaffhausen served for fif­teen years on the Board of Direc­tors for Friend­ship Senior Options and its affil­i­ates and cham­pi­oned the impor­tance of edu­ca­tion and life­long learn­ing to bet­ter our communities. 

Cap­i­tal Ini­tia­tives: Enhanc­ing our community

Our com­mu­ni­ties are the heart of our orga­ni­za­tion. They are where our res­i­dents call home and our asso­ciates make a dif­fer­ence. Rec­og­niz­ing the sig­nif­i­cance of the phys­i­cal sur­round­ings, gifts to the Foun­da­tion also help to repair, main­tain and improve our com­mu­ni­ties. Cam­pus beau­ti­fi­ca­tion oppor­tu­ni­ties, envi­ron­men­tal projects and build­ing enhance­ments are just some of the ways the Foun­da­tion has helped to cre­ate a bet­ter lifestyle for our residents.
